HearthMate is a macOS companion for Hearthstone Arena drafting.

Hearthstone process data

HearthMate does not capture the screen or audio, request screen-capture permission, run OCR, save frames, or upload frames. The Developer ID website release uses a non-suspending Mach read-only backend to copy the current Arena choices, owned-card counts, and Standard/Wild rank fields from the running Hearthstone process.

The reader does not suspend Hearthstone, write process memory, create remote threads, or invoke Hearthstone or Mono methods. After sign-in, HearthMate syncs the latest complete owned-card counts by card database ID and finish to the user's HearthMate account.

Hearthstone log files

HearthMate reads the standard Hearthstone Logs location directly. For a non-default installation, the user explicitly selects the Logs folder. HearthMate reads Arena lifecycle state, parses completed Standard, Wild, and Arena matches from Power.log, and associates the selected deck snapshot from the companion Decks.log when available.

Raw log contents remain on the Mac and are never uploaded. Whether or not the user signs in, HearthMate uploads a match summary containing a deterministic, pseudonymous client match ID, mode, result, start and end time, duration, turn count, both hero classes, whether the user went first, and, when available, the deck name and copyable deck code. Standard or Wild ranked summaries use the current memory-sourced ladder rank at upload time. Rank consists only of tier and division, or the numeric Legend position. A deck code can be decoded by Hearthstone into the complete deck list. HearthMate does not upload per-turn played-card events, BattleTag, GameAccount ID, opponent names, or raw log lines.

Before sign-in, summaries are stored under an Unknown Account associated with a random installation token generated by HearthMate and stored in Keychain. The server stores only a SHA-256 hash of this token. When the same installation later signs in, it can bind those summaries to the authenticated account. The globally unique client match ID and idempotent server writes prevent retries or later binding from creating duplicate records.

Optional account login

Arena drafting does not require an account. A user may choose Sign in with Apple in the Mac app or directly on the private match-history webpage. HearthMate receives the provider-specific identifier, display name, and email address the user chooses to share, which may be an Apple private relay address. If a user chooses Battle.net, HearthMate receives the Battle.net account identifier, BattleTag, and selected region. HearthMate stores this profile, cloud-synced language and overlay layout, session records, uploaded match summaries and owned-card counts, and an encrypted Apple refresh token when applicable. Account activity is not used for advertising.

Users can sign out without deleting cloud data or choose Delete Account in the HearthMate menu. HearthMate does not provide separate deletion of cloud match history. Account deletion revokes Apple authorization when applicable and permanently deletes the HearthMate account, sessions, synced settings, owned-card collection, and match summaries from the server.

Network access and local storage

HearthMate downloads card and class statistics from hsmate.fun and syncs privacy-minimized match summaries and, after sign-in, owned-card counts to the same service. Signed-in users can view bound summaries on the private match-history page. Requests may expose ordinary network metadata such as IP address to the hosting provider.

The app stores its HearthMate session token and random match-installation token in Keychain. It stores language, overlay layout, recognition preference, security-scoped Logs-folder bookmark, downloaded statistics, and parsed match history locally. Local match history is retained so it can be displayed and reliably synced; removing the app and its container deletes that remaining local data.
